So how do you design a great website that keeps the users coming back?
It starts with the basics of design, add some modern technology and ease of usability!
We talk about good design all the time in our blog’s and throughout our website here at Daydream Creative, so you should learn a lot from the articles.
Here are the 10 ingredients for a great website design:
1. LOGO AND BRANDING
We are all about branding as it is super important!
Your brand includes your logo, colour pallet and imagery. Your website should feature all of these elements throughout, this creates the feeling of organisation and trust in your brand.

2. SIMPLE TYPOGRAPHY
Everyone is time poor, so your typography needs to be clear, easy to read and straight to the point.
We encourage asking a question that evokes feeling or a response from your target audience – hit a pain point and then follow by your solution and a call to action!
For example: If you are a financial advisor you could pose the question – Want to invest, but not sure where to start? Our experienced team can advise you on the best options for you! Contact us.
3. CONSISTENT COLOUR PALETT
This goes back to branding, your brand colours should be reflected throughout the website.
You don’t need to splash your primary brand colour everywhere, but have it appear in the main focus areas like header, headings, button links and within the imagery.
4. EASE OF USE
All interactive elements must work in intuitive ways.
Don’t make the user think too much!
5. NAVIGATION
Your navigation needs to be clear and obvious.
You need to create a path you want the user to take when exploring your website.
6. STRONG IMAGES THAT REFLECT YOUR BRAND MESSAGE
Good imagery can make a good website GREAT!
People are so bored with standard stock imagery. We recommend getting a few professional shots of you, your staff and any products or clients you want to showcase. You are creating trust and showcasing your brand values which the user will appreciate.
7. GOOD COPY
We at Daydream Creative believe that you should stick to what you do best. So if you are not a professional copywriter, hire one!
There are so many great copywriters out there. They will get your message across concisely and in a professional way.
Have a great blog! Post regular content on topics your users are interested in. Become a source of knowledge in your industry.
8. EASY TO UNDERSTAND CALLS-TO-ACTION
Make it clear what you want the user to do through your typography and design.
If you want them to sign up to your newsletter, make this a focus on the homepage. If you want them to purchase a product, make this clear with a graphically striking slider image that leads them directly to your product. Keep them simple and easy – back to the time poor thing, people don’t want to have to search around for what they want.
9. YOUR BRAND STORY
This is a great way to connect with your users. Tell them about yourself, your goals and values.
This should be communicated throughout your entire site through branding and use of colour and imagery.
10. MODERN DESIGN AND INTERFACE
This is where we come in! You need professional graphic designers to design a custom website that showcases your brand.
There are so many WordPress template websites out there that are boring and wont make you stand out.
